Mr E. A. Muis, Ormond Road, who has retired as secretary of Adair Brothers, Ltd after more than 20 years service. A 1st World War veteran, Mr Muis was also secretary many years ago of the Gisborne Publishing Company.
Mr Robert Sanders, Ministry of Works employee, who has left Gisborne to take up a Government post in Samoa. He took the male lead in "the Merry Widow" three years ago and was secretary of the Gisborne Municipal Band.
Mr J. Duigan, Palmerston Road, who has been appointed assistant manager at Auckland for the Liverpool, London, & Globe Insurance Company. He has devoted much time to the Sea Scout movement, of which he was assistant commissioner.
Mr and Mrs W. H. Sherwood, Palmerston Road, who celebrated their golden wedding anniversary recently. They married in Wellington in 1906, later moving to Gisborne. A draper by trade, Mr Sherwood was an employee of the Cash Stores until his retirement seven years ago. Kandid
Mr F. C. Hay, of Dunedin, who has succeeded Mr G. W. Coppell as district officer of the Labour and Employment Department. A keen R.S.A. member, Mr Hay was district rehab. officer in Dunedin for 12 years.
