A Samoan Way

Mrs Beulah Su of Ormond Road is introducing her friends and acquaintances to the old Samoan custom of Asiasiga. This actually means saving regularly and then buying something for the home, usually on a monthly basis. This way housewives can have in their homes articles which contribute to the well-being of their families, and include such items as cooking utensils, tea towels, necessary crockery, linen, etc. In another way something for each room in the house each month. However, the most enjoyable part is the monthly meeting when all get together for a chat and to see what each of the others has bought – without trying to outdo each other!
