20 Years On

Twenty years of fellowship and entertainment were celebrated by the Gisborne Orphans' Club on July 17. The club was formed in 1955 when it was convened by Allister Beattie, Les Strachan and Ray Sweet. A variety of items was featured to mark the celebration which was enjoyed by a good crowd of members.

Twenty-year badges were presented to these fourteen members who are, from left, in front, Jim Norrie, Ernie Bacon, Keith Stichbury, Roy Ivess, George Odams, Arthur Gardiner, and Noel Jones who accepted the badge which would have gone to his late father, Fred Jones. At back, present chief orphan George Weatherley, Frank Pollard, Bert Emms, Max Fry, the late Jack Booth, Fred Lyndon and Bruce Norman.
