A Whole Heap Of Hippies

Fun In '25

Kani Horsfall of Waituhi has become the first Maori in the world to conquer the Niagara Falls. He made the daring trip clad only in a barrel and lived to tell the tale. Kani was the only male member of the Aotearoa Maori Group which toured the U.S.A. and Canada with the New Zealand National Band late last year and he accomplished his daring feat during the group's stopover at the falls. Our thanks to Mrs W. Chambers of Munro Street for this exclusive picture.

The hippeastrum grows particularly well in the right situation in Gisborne but the Goodall garden at Manutuke must have the top spot of the lot. From one bulb, four stalks produced 22 blooms — which must be pretty hard to beat anywhere.

From Mrs M. L. Clayton, Belgium Terrace, we have copied this cover of a bound volume of Puck Comic. It is the issue of June 27,1925, so is nearly 50 years old. In mint condition this comic is a far cry from the comic of today and creates an interesting exercise when one studies the differences in some of the children's reading available then and now.
