Them Stubborn Sheeps
Not all sheep are docile when it comes to dog trials. Some of them get really stroppy in fact and test both the patience and skill of dog and owner. At the Poverty Bay Charity Dog Trial Club's annual fixture, where a record number of dogs was entered, several sheep were only too keen to let dog and master know that they weren't going to have things all their own way.
Ian Sinclair and Star strike one such sheep during their run on the first morning of the three-day function.
Pep holds steady as John Aitchison wills the sheep through the first gate.
Mark Heaton (who is out from Yorkshire, England, on a working holiday) took part in the trials. He was joined by his parents, Allan and Mary Heaton, who had Just arrived for a three-week visit and were also taking part. They are pictured with programme director Bill Teutenberg.
