First Play For New Shield

A capacity number of fours played off for the new inter-club trophy, the Stan McKenzie Shield. The shield is in honour of the late Mr Stan McKenzie, who was an outstanding bowler. It is open to leads and twos only, thus filling in a gap in a rather neglected area of inter-club competition.

Peace Shield To Hale'S Team

The Gisborne Club is very proud of Frank Hale and his team who waltzed away with the Peace Shield over Anniversary Weekend. Playing with extreme coolness and led by their redoubtable skip, the team overcame several difficult patches to take the title.

Singles Champion

The East Coast Women's Bowling Centre Champion of Champions singles title was played for at Riverside. Two Hawke's Bay ladies fought out a mighty keen game in a final which kept the crowd more than interested.
