Severe Fire Damage

Six rooms in this house in Pickering Street were very badly damaged by fire in the early hours of May 18. The Police are treating the fire as arson. The house is the residence of Mr W. Whangapirita who was on holiday in Australia when the unfortunate occurrence took place. Furniture and household contents were lost when three of the rooms were very badly damaged and three others completely gutted. A sad commentary indeed.that in aplace only the size of Gisborne we should have someone in our midst who is so lacking in grey matter that he would descend to this sort of thing!
