A Diamond Year
This year, 1974, is the Diamond Jubilee year of the Victoria League and members of the Gisborne branch started off a number of functions set down for the coming year with what was to have been a garden party at Ulverstone. However the inclement weather forced the gathering to be held indoors. Even so, a very enjoyable afternoon was had by all. The programme included a demonstration of hairstyles by "Carolyn's Magic Scissors" salon, a fashion parade, and the cutting of the jubilee cake.
The league president, Miss N. Cotterill (left), is pictured with Miss Amy Gray who is cutting-the jubilee cake. Miss Gray was the very first secretary of the Gisborne branch of the league.
Also present were two past presidents, Mesdames F. Balfour (left) and M. E. Tomlinson.
Other members at the function included Mrs E. R. Rentier, a foundation member, and Mrs F. Simmons
And Mesdames T. Bade and F. £, Scragg
