"I'll Tell You a Secret"

"Of the freedom of the bush, of alarming storms, of gentle rain, of the cold winter, of the heat of summer, of the freshness of spring, and of the golden days of autumn. Of plenty to eat and pure water to drink. Of untamed speed, through the clearings and over the hills. Of the magnificent vistas from the tops of the ranges, and the marvellous safety of the dense forest. And the frightening sound of the hunter's gun! All these things I know, even though I'm only three days old. What do you know, Pani Collins of Matawai — away out here in the quiet of the country, away from the noise and the pollution of the city? Will you grow up with me, near the rugged hills and the swirling mists, near the sparkling streams and the shady trees, the open sky and freshest of air? Will you?" (This enchanting picture was sent into us by Mrs Celia Collins of Matawai.)
