The Girl and the Car

Gisborne's Commonwealth Games Hostess, Marie McEwin of 727 Aberdeen Road, teams up with the Holden Kingswood V8 Automatic Sedan at Ormonds Motors. This car was one of the 169 Holdens especially organised by General Motors as courier cars for competing teams at the games in Christchurch, The cars, which have power assisted steering, were all painted white and had the same distinctive red and blue stripe along each side. Marie is wearing her royal blue jump suit and white jacket, on which is the Games emblem in red and blue. At the car door is Ormonds Motors' managing director John Nicholls.
