The Latest In Pickers
Montana Wines have brought the very latest in mechanical grape pickers into Gisborne. The harvester vibrators strip the grapes off the vines separately. In doing so a few of the leaves are also taken. Both grapes and leaves are deposited onto a conveyor which takes them to a chamber where a blower separates one from another. The leaves are deposited back onto the ground (natural manure, you see) and the grapes elevated to a second conveyor which deposits them into a special hydraulic bin. When the bin is full the grapes are off-loaded into a truck which takes them into the winery.
The mechanical picker moves over the row with the tractor and collecting bin moving at the same pace in the next. row.
