. . . This seems to be the theme song of Malcolm Olsen's pet 'possum. Malcolm, 3, (who was staying with his uncle and aunt, Mr and Mrs R. H. Harding, 25 Totara Street) and the little chap, 1 month, are almost inseparable. Malcolm also finds his time cut out keeping up the food supply.

. . . This double-headed dahlia was found growing in the garden of Mr and Mrs T. Whaitiri, Papatu Road, Manutuke. This photo was taken with the flower being reflected in a mirror, thus showing both heads at once.

The 1973 Jaycee Awards for that year were presented at the last tea-meeting for the year at Ulverstone. From left, Jeff Davis (most unusual project), Owen Sutton (most active new member), Alan Grover (impromptu speech), Mike Judd (best oratory), Andy Pritehard (master at arms), Max Pullen (outstanding Jaycee of the Year), Geoff Bibby (inter-commission debate), Garth Ritchie (Jaycee car trial), Rex Watson (best presented project) and Alan MacKintosh (joint winner of the Membership Cup with Bob Shand, who was absent).
