A Great Day Out

After the Christmas Parade of 1973, a Family Day was held in Anzac Park. An extra large crowd attended. So much so that the day could become an annual event. Out of the many attractions provided, the two outstanding highlights were the arrival of Father Christmas by boat on the Waimata River, and the Fancy Dress Contest with prizes of $100.

First prize in the fancy dress contest went to Alison Pollard of 42 Albert Street. She is wearing a Breton national costume which was made by her mother.

This little pink fairy, Amerillis Jenkins by name, took second prize in the contest. She is held by her father, Mr Neville Jenkins.
