Here... and There

Fire Station Visit

Ambulance Dedicated

×

Children from the Whangara School came to the city recently and paid visits to the library and the fire station. At the fire station they were shown around by Fireman John Lund, who is seen here explaining watchroom procedure. At right is watchroom attendant Mr Doug Brown, who actually went to the Whangara School from 1916 to 1919.

The new ambulance (the money for which was raised from an appeal organised by Gisborne Motors and Radio Gisborne) was dedicated at the St John Ambulance Station on July 29 by Rev. J. R. Arnold. Pictured with the new vehicle after the dedication are, from left, Rev. Arnold, Mayor Harry Barker, St John president Bill James, Gisborne Motors manager Warwick Bain, and Radio Gisborne manager Ian Vernazoni.
