Area Conference

The Waiapu Scout Area Adult Leaders' and Supporters 13th Annual Conference was held in Gisborne on July 14. The theme of the conference, which took place in the Power Board Social Rooms, was "Development." A full programme took up most of the day and a social gathering was held in the evening.

After prayers, flagbreak, and the official opening by the Mayor Harry Barker (left), a lively panel discussion on "Development in Hawke's Bay — Poverty Bay" was held. On the panel were, left from Mr Barker, Messrs Trevor Davey, M.P., Eric Adye, Gisborne Harbour Board, and John Fitzharris, Department of Agriculture.

To mark her retirement from the movement after more than 30 years' service, the Assistant Area Cub Leader, Miss June McGregor, was presented with an illuminated address by Area Training Leader Cyril Hall.
