Season Ends

The Comet Swimming Club held a very enjoyable end-of-season social and prize-giving in St Mary's Hall recently.

The Jennings family took the cup for the family relay. They are Dad Bert, and sons Ala-stair (left) and Chris.

The junior club captain, Gwen Mulligan made a presentation to Mr Tom Powell on behalf of the club. Mr Powell is relinquishing the position of treasurer to the club, a job which he has held ever since the club's inception 15 years ago.

Wendy Brodie and Mack Tamatea each won their section of the 12 and 13 age group championships.

Lyn Anderson and Mark Peters each won their section of the 14 and 15 open trophy winners.

The Hemi brothers took two awards between them. James (left} won the cup for the swimmer most deserving of encouragement, while Lynden won the cup for the youngest competitor
