Members of Adairs' staff took a Sunday outing recently, which included a visit to the city water supply area at Mangapoike. While, at that time, the supply looked adequate, continuing dry weather has impressed upon the city's whole population the necessity to conserve supplies. Here, some of the party view the reservoir behind the Clapcott dam, completed, incidentally, in 1948.

The Y.M.C.A. Ladies' Morning Badminton Club committee is pictured here. There was such a crowd at their function (see Pages 40 and 41) that there wasn't room to include this photo. From left, in front, president Jan Briant, secretary Joy Hughes, treasurer Pat Bayley, Marion Goodwin, Kath Proudfoot and Fiona Norman. At back, Dawn Scandrett, Mary Staley, Eve Hibbert, Jan de Lautour and Ricky Bowden.

From Captain Medland, Te Araroa, comes this pic. of the "Taonui," which hit a rock and sank at Hick's Bay, a few weeks ago. Owned by Mr P. Newdick, the boat has since been salvaged and is soon to put back to sea again.
