Four members of the Gisborne Savage Club were honoured with life membership at the final Korero of the season. The men are, from left, Messrs Ian Caie, Noel Oldridge, Eric McCulloch and John Thorburn. Mr Caie, a performer of note for many years, is property master and also a past Rangatira. Mr Oldridge, also a past Rangatira, is one of the club's leading performers. Mr McCulloch, who has been a flautist in the Savage Club orchestra for 43 years, is a vice-Rangatira and an executive member. Mr Thorburn, a past Rangatira, has also served as both secretary and treasurer to the club. (K.K.K.).

Off to the other side of the world at the end of the month are Jim and Anne Gillanders of 36 Sievwright Lane. The couple, who are both school teachers, expect to be away about 18 months to two years, spending time in England and on the Continent.

From Mrs H. Costello, Endeavour Street, we have this five-generation photo. It shows, from left, Mrs Sandy Carter (great-grand-daughter) with Julie (great-great-grand-daughter), Whakatane, Mrs Jane Patterson (grand-daughter), Auckland, Mr Bert Costello, Endeavour Street, and his mother (the great-great-grandmother), now Mrs F. Neal of Auckland. Mrs Neal, formerly Mrs Costello, is also a former resident of Gisborne.

Mr Alex Ramsey has just been appointed the first publicity officer for the Gisborne-East Coast Bowling Centre in this area. Mr Ramsey, a member of the Gisborne Bowling Club for the past five years, and who has been playing bowls for the past 15 years, is also president of the Gisborne-East Coast Bowling Umpires' Association.
