Off on a breeze

Members of the Gisborne Model Aeroplane Club entertained Hawkes Bay club members at a two-day rally held out at Manutuke on November 20 and 21. A wide variety of plane types were flown, from slower, sure-flying models to the fast, zippy jobs. All planes at the rally were radio controlled, which gave spectators some very interesting theories.

Brian Perry's 'fiddlestick,'a K & B 40 front rater, created a lot of interest with its speed, which can be up in the nineties

This vintage fire engine owned by Mr Dennis Carter (in the hot seat) stayed in Gisborne virtually only long enough to be tuned-up and refueled. Mr Carter, who was transferred to Gisborne from Taumaru-nui, and has been here less than a year before being transferred to Auckland, is pictured just before making the Auckland trip. He owns this 1928-29 Hudson Super Six which he restored himself. Also in the picture is Newton King mechanic Mr Colin Downs.
