The MV Cymric was in port a few weeks back and while it was here Mrs Nora Steed, I.H.C. president, had a pleasant surprise. She received a phone call to come down to the ship and collect $40 for the I.H.C. The money was from the crew of the ship and represented profits from bar takings. With Mrs Steed and the $40 is the bar committee which is, from left, Frank Lawson (secretary), Tony Mullins, Tom Stewart, Alan Palmer (chairman), and Willie Keir.

Mrs E. M. Le Prou, 13 Hirini Street, spends a lot of her time crocheting. Just recently she completed this work of the Lord's Prayer. As it was tiring, she managed to get only two rows done each day, so you see it took some time to complete. (Studio "One").

Mrs Margaret Hegarty, Stout Street (right), was presented with the gold medal she gained for winning the sewn garment section of the National Women's Woolcraft Award held in Wellington recently. The medal is being presented by Mrs G. Shanks, whose husband is the local member of the Wool Board Electoral College.
