High a-top Kaiti Hill the Gisborne Astronomical Society's observatory continues under construction. It will eventually have two telescopes installed.

A permanent first-aid building is being erected near the overseas wharf for Gisborne waterfront men. Of concrete block, the building is so designed that it will become part of any future permanent building that may be erected.

A pre-cut home is also being erected, in the same location, as a temporary assembly room for the men, and with cafeteria facilities. This is a pre-cut home, under construction by J. W. O'Donoghue, and if, in the future, a decision is made to build a permanent structure the present building will have resale value.
