Film for Festival

Aviation in N.Z.

A film on the early days of aviation in New Zealand is being made by Messrs Don Walker and Graeme Mudge. This is for entry in the Auckland Centennial Festival Committee's movie competition, and many hours of hard work are going into it.

props are all being made by hand and the method of film production will be model movement. As yet untitled, the film will be fully synchronised with sound.

Not many people are aware that a balloon was flown in Gisborne about 1902 (with unfortunate results) and this incident is also incorporated in the film.

Hundreds of feet of film is shot and edited, and ends up in strips ready for splicing together to make the whole movie.
