Aid for the Handicapped

The Crippled Children Society continues its sterling work in providing aid for handicapped children and young people. Funds come from a variety of sources and one of these is the Sportsmen's Dinner which is to be held on May 20. These funds enable the society to provide treatment for crippled children as well as providing them with concrete aids to help their progress towards a fuller life.

Big Day at Manutuke

For the Brownies, that is! The enrolment of Manutuke Brownies took place earlier this year and was a big day for them as the Brownies have been in recess for several years. From left, in this picture from Mrs P. Habib, are in front, Dale Pointion, Paula Kirk, Heather Craill, Sandra Miliar, Robyn Mitchell, Lesley Habib, Hayley Whai-tiri, Maree Stamp, Cathy Sharp, Jane Schrears and Judith Habib. At back are Mrs P. Habib (Brown Owl), helpers Robyn Richardson, Lynn Horidge, and Karen Richardson, and Mrs J. Moles (commissioner).

The society's field officer, Mrs Olive Hale, presents a tri-cycle to Mary Vaughan which will enable her to become much more easily mobile. This cost $180. As most of you know "you don't get anything for nothing" these days!

A second-hand typewriter, bought for $50, will allow Harriet Goldsmith to write easily and legibly. But the society needs much more, so don't let this picture lull you into a sense of "I don't need to help," as the society has many more deserving cases to look to.
