Although she herself made light of the occasion, Adairs (where she was appearing on promotion) entertained her to dinner at the Masonic Hotel. There was also a cake baked by the hotel's chef, good food and wine. She was, of course, Gienys Treweek, Miss New Zealand, and she was celebrating her twenty-first birthday. Surrounded by guests, Glenys cuts the traditional cake.
