Freighter Rams Butler's Wall

Shipping Delayed While Repairs Effected

The freighter Essex, leaving port on April 26, failed to answer to steering in the harbour basin and hit Butler's Wall a resounding blow.

Part of the bow was torn open and this necessitated several extra days in port while repairs were effected. Meanwhile other shipping was held up.
