Keep on Saving!

Keep on saving! Yes, that's the story of Savings Week, when banks and schools kept that theme to the fore front for that week. The Gisborne Savings Committee held a savings poster competition for schools, and prizes were presented by the Mayor.

Representatives of the winning sections are shown getting their prizes from Mr Barker. These were cheques for $10 for each school's library. As the money is eligible for subsidy, in actual fact each school benefits by $20. From left, Ross Crichton (Kaiti, junior section equal), Alan Hill (Gisborne Intermediate, senior section), Robyn Jury (Te Hapara, junior equal), and Penny Barker (Whangara, primary).
