Jubilee Time

The Te Hapara School celebrates its diamond jubilee next year and the festivities will take place over the three days of February 19, 20 and 21. Sixty years of schooling have produced some prominent people, among them world famous boxer Tom Heeney, and the longtime sports writer and broadcaster Wallie Ingram. Old boy Bob McLatchie is secretary treasurer of the jubilee committee and is the one to contact for any further information. You know him, the chemist bloke! Better be quick though as November 30 is the deadline for registrations.

Sixty years old and still going strong! The actual name Te Hapara is an abridged version of Te-Ata-Hapara, which means early dawn (or the light of education, we presume).

Wallie Ingram was dux in 1915.
