Soccer '70...
The 1970 North Island Under 14 schoolboy soccer tournament was held at the Childers Road Reserve during the school holidays. The Poverty Bay team played well, but was defeated in its final game which was against Western Bay of Plenty.

The series was opened by the group's patron, the Mayor, Mr H. H. Barker. At right is the chairman, Mr Ian Davidson.

The Fordham Shield, premier trophy for the series, was won by Franklin. Captain Graeme Fox receives it from the Mayor, Mr H. H. Barker.
