Grain Train, Grain Train...
A new innovation on the railway scene is the grain train which will run from Gisborne to New Plymouth each week. Common, Shelton & Co, have a contract to supply grain to the other side of the island.
The wagon was built for the Poultrymen's Co-operative Ltd. of New Plymouth and is seen here being filled at the Victoria siding by one of Jukes's trucks. Supervising the filling of the loading are Rani Anderson and Arthur Jukes.
The wagon, being in compartments, allows the carrying of different types of grain in the one unit.
Maize is off-loaded from Common, Shelton's silo in Bright Street prior to loading on to the grain train.
