"Fruit Salad"

Fruit has been moving in all directions lately – a real mixture!

About 4000 cartons of Gisborne apples were loaded in to the Laurentic recently. This is the first time a consignment of apples from the Apple and Pear Board has actually left from the port for direct shipment to England. Before this, fruit was loaded out to "home" boats in the Bay.

This "pineapple" was found growing on the corner of Gladstone Road and Derby Street outside Bramwells Pharmacy. Morris Bramwell deemed it most delicious, considering this is not "pineapple country".

This consignment of 36 bunches of white muscat grapes were ordered from Rod Smith's vineyards at Hexton. They were for the Queen's table at a Government House dinner held in Wellington. Packing the grapes into the three boxes is Mrs Flo Dahm.
