Gisborne's first Rotary Exchange scholar, Jane Tietjen, has just left to spend her year in the United States. Jane, daughter of Mr and Mrs J. F. Tietjen, Bushmere, goes to Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania, and will stay with the Steck family for her first term. From left: Rotarian Ian McRae (chairman Gisborne international committee), Jane, Mr Tietjen and Joann Steck, 17, who is the same age as Jane, and wilt, of course go to the same college.

Two American Field Scholars who have just returned to the U.S.A. are Emmy Hoffman and Russ Fletcher. They are pictured at the airport where they were presented with gifts by Bub Wehi on behalf of the Waihirere Concert Party. After 35 years Percy Cooper, Portsmith, England, was reunited with his daughter, Mrs Betty Planten, 811 Childers Road, when he arrived in Gisborne recently. On hand to greet him at the airport were members of the family. From left: Mrs Hilda Gardner, Percy Cooper, Betty Planten, Karen Planten and Peter Planten. Major and Mrs Gordon Brinsdon, Salvation Army Corps Officers in Gisborne for the past four years, have been transferred to Palmerston North. Their son Neville, 19, graduated as Penal Cadet after a two-year course in Wellington. He goes down to the Invercargill Borstal Centre to commence his career. In the picture are Major and Mrs Brinsdon and family and, from left, Neville, Barbara and Ken.
