Cook's Cove Revisited

A worthy gesture to the memory of Captain Cook was made when the Navy supply ship "Endeavour" made a commemorative journey into Tolaga Bay, retracing Cook's track, and landed a party at Cook's Cove. The party consisted of Commander D. G. Bamfield, Mr D. E. Chrisp, chairman Gisborne Harbour Board, Miss Elizabeth Chrisp, Mr R. C. Parker, chairman Cook County Council, and Leading Seaman Ken Copeland (originally from Wairoa). Once ashore the party made for the spring in "Cook's well". There they drank some water and filled a bottle to take back.
