Great Gifts

Two exceptional and outstanding grifts were made to the Intellectually Handicapped Children Society prior to the opening of the society's new hostel. These were a television set and a radiogram.

Members of the Cheer and Charity Club spent much time and effort raising funds to provide a television set for the hostel and this was formally presented to Mrs Nora Steed, president of the society. From left: Mrs Elva Stratton (club president), Mrs Steed, and Mesdames Rose McIntosh, Gillian Clout, Margaret Randle, Ethel McGill, Jean Bull, Rosay King, Jane Ryan, Joyce Nigro, Lenore Briant, Tottie Avenell and, in front, Carol Third, Joan Piesse and Dorothy McDiarmid.

Gisborne Rotary Club presented a radiogram for use in the hostel and these members were in attendance to make the presentation. From left, Messrs Win Ellis, William Way, Des Sutcliffe, Mrs Steed (society president), Duff Jones (Rotary president), Vic Cooper, Arthur Leeves and Ian McRae.
