Club Activities

Riverside Bowling Club.

Turanga Croquet Club Opening. Mrs Nan Thompson, president of the club, presents Mr George Piesse with a croquet mallet for the work he has done on the Club Pavilion.

Makaraka Indoor Bowls. Rotorua Indoor Bowling Club members competed against Makaraka bowlers on September 21 for the inter-club trophy, which was retained by Makaraka.

On the committee for the new bowling season are Mesdames Kath Powell, Joan McMurray, Lill Butler (secretary), Ali Robertson, Adrienne McGee, Vi Hulme (treasurer), Diane Peake, Glad Adams (vice-president), Nora McLeod (president), Eve Purcell and Doreen Livingston. Before the opening weekend Riverside Ladies competed in a mixed tournament.

The men s team to reach the finals consisted of Messrs R. Leggett, E. Flemwell, T. Mitchell and G. Butler.

Mesdames C. Powell, E. Jackson, D. Livingston and B. Wilson comprised the ladies' team in the finals. The ladies proved to be the better players of the two.

Mr Bill Thompson, who also worked on the pavilion, receives his gift from Mrs Thompson.
