Out And About

This is the car which plunged into the Nuhaka river near Morere on Friday, June 14. In it were Mr Roger Karangaroa, of Tahaenui, and Mr Thomas Waerea, of Nuhaka. Mr Waerea is believed to have been swept away and has not yet been found. Mr Karangaroa was admitted to the Wairoa hospital suffering from severe shock.

Pictured as they appeared on our August, 1965, cover are Diane Jones and Bruce Horsburgh. They both did well recently in outside gymnastic events. Diana won the Taranaki women's open gymnastic championship which was held at Inglewood. Bruce won the Otago men's open championship which was held in Dunedin.

Poor weather conditions over the past few weekends have not altered the playing skill of teams in Poverty Bay.
In a recent game a Greywing No.2 player races ahead of two St. M.O.G. No.3 players. Final score, Greywing 22-St. M.O.G. 13.

From Mrs T. J. McCreedy, 594 Gladstone Road, comes this picture of an unusual garden. It is planted in this large glass bowl, cut down from an old corboy, and thrives very well inside. An unusual and decorative adjunct to the living-room.
