Ngata College Baths Opened

After a strenuous rund raising campaign a fine new 25 metre swimming pool was constructed and recently opened at the Ngata College. Ruatorla. The pool cost $12,000 and the filtration plant $3,000, and dressing sheds and other amenities are planned for the immediate future.

A swimming carnival was held to open the baths and swimmers were present from Tolaga Bay, Tokomaru Bay and Te Araroa. Members of Gisborne clubs under the direction of Mrs Wauchop attended to give swimming stroke and life saving exhibitions. The baths were officially opened by Mr A. H. De Costa, while other speakers were Mr D. A. Kirkham, chairman of the college committee of management, and Mr H. M. Jennings, college principal.
