Then and Now

Gladstone Road in the 1920's carried a variety of traffic, but certainly not the volume of today. In this early picture looking west from the Bright Street-Gray Street block, an Edison battery tram, a bicycle, automobiles, and horse and carts are evident.

Many of the buildings which lined the street are now replaced, and the town clock had not yet been moved from its original home atop the Post Office.

On the left of this photo is the old Palace Picture Theatre, nowadays occupied by the Regent Theatre.
