It took two men to lift this outsize pumpkin on to the trailer at Manutuke. Pumpkin was one of a crop grown hy Mr W. Patterson, and measured more than 3 feet across. Here it almost dwarfs little Katrina Patterson, who is aged 5 years and is tall for her age.

Mrs S.J. Buzbee, the former Miss Margaret Long, daughter of Mr A. Long, Whitaker Street, with her small daughter. Mrs Buzbee left recently for San Francisco to rejoin her husband, who has been on service with the U.S. Marines in Korea.

The Gisborne Car Club recently held a reliability trial to Opotiki via the Whakarau and old Motu Roads and back through the Waioeka Gorge. In this picture, Mr C.K. Gladhill's Vauxhall is seen negotiating a bad patch on the Motu road.
