Our Cover

Two of the five Gisborne gymnasts who will be competing in the New Zealand Gymnastic Championships in Gisborne during the August school holidays make an attractive picture atop a horizontal bar. They are Bruce Horsburgh, 18-year-old son of Mr and Mrs S. W. Horsburgh, 563A Aberdeen Road, who will be competing in the Youths' B grade, and Diana Jones, 16-year-old daughter of Mr and Mrs I. E. Jones, 4 Vivien Street, who will be contesting the Women's B grade.

Pictures of the pair in action appear elsewhere in this issue.

Other Gisborne competitors in the championships will be Olive Gordon (Girls' B grade), and Shona Buscke and Richard Smythe (trampoline).

Back Cover. Anzac Park on the Waimata River has been the centre of a two-year controversy on the proposed boat ramp for pleasure craft. In this colourful scene, taken during a yacht club picnic, the river is crowded with yachts and pleasure craft, a sight which could well become common in the event of the boat ramp being constructed.
