Basketball Tournament

Teams from as far afield as Palmerston North and Whakatane converged on Gisborne for the annual basketball tournament for the Kathleen Henderson Shield.

Playing in cold and wet conditions at the P.B. Association's courts in Childers Road, the Tokomaru Bay District High School team defeated St. Mary's School (1) in the final by 21 goals to eight to win the shield. Gisborne Girls' High (1) were in third place.
