A member of the Riverside Women's Bowling Club, Mrs H. G. Downey, won the women's singles championship at the South Pacific Bowling Carnival held in Suva last month. By coincidence, a former Gisbornite now residing in Suva, Mr Peter Oates, won the men's singles title at the carnival. Mrs Downey is pictured at left with her trophy, and at right, with Mr Oates.
