Modern Maize Harvesting
Gisborne agricultural contractor Mr Ernie White recently took delivery of a massive International four-row maize picker and sheller, which has double the output of his previous two-row machines.
Specially imported from the United States by A.B.C. Motors Ltd. the harvester is the only one of its kind in New Zealand, Valued at £7500, it is capable of handling 600 bushels, or six acres, of maize per hour, and can also be used to harvest all types of grain, as well as peas and beans.
The pictures on these pages were taken when Mr White was operating his new machine, and assistant bulk handling equipment, on Mr Ernie Kent's property at Makaraka.
