Tin Hat Club Hits Town

Garbed in wildly varied bits and pieces of army and wog attire, a contingent of Hastings Tin Hat Club members arrived in Gisborne one Saturday afternoon recently, and proceeded to hot up the town to the best of their ability.

They marched down Gladstone Road and Bright Street to the War Memorial Hall, where they were "inspected", branded, and given a foot bath before being allowed in the premises.

Ron Hunter, the Hastings "boss", is seen at left passing through the foot bath rigged up outside the War Memorial Hall, presumably to guard against the possible importation of footrot. Ron survived to declare the club's "Magnum Charter", which he holds (above) for the benefit of the "Photo News" camera.

In the evening, the visitors and the locals got together for a cabaret in the War Memorial Hall, where, from all accounts, they had a most joyful reunion.
