Jumping Show

The annual jumping show of the New Zealand Horse Society, Gisborne Area, was staged at the Showgrounds in perfect weather during Anniversary weekend.

Feature event of the show was the two rounds Olympic Trial, in which a young Masterton rider, Felicity Williams, on her up-graded horse Ribbon, claimed a clear victory from a field of top-class international competitors, when she beat Gisborne horseman Charles Matthews on Syndicate, in a jump-off.

The Olympic trialists have another 12 shows to take part in before a final selection for Tokyo is made.
