Peter Snell in Gisborne

The world record mile and half-mile champion, Peter Snell, of Auckland, visited Gisborne recently to compete in an invitation 880 yards race at the Childers Road Reserve.

During his brief stay in the city, Snell did some light training, and was guest speaker at the Gisborne Rotary Club's weekly meeting.

He was accompanied on his visit by the New Zealand women's hurdles champion, Mrs Avis McIntosh, also of Auckland, who competed in an 80 metres hurdles race at the meeting.
