Spectacular Fire

A few minutes after a family in Hapara Road, just beyond Lytton High School, had left for a Saturday visit to Wairoa, their house burst into flame and was almost completely destroyed.

The fire brigade had to run a long hose from the school, and by the time water was available at the scene, when this photograph was taken, the dwelling was a mass of flame.
