Battle of Britain Remembered
The 23rd anniversary of the Battle of Britain was commemorated in Gisborne on a Sunday morning last month with a service at the War Memorial, Esplanade.
Major Sampson, of the Salvation Army, conducted the service, which was attended by ex Royal Air Force personnel, the Gisborne A.T.C., and the Te Hapara Air Scouts.
After the service, the president of the Gisborne Air Force Association, Mr E. Sweeny, laid a wreath in memory of those who gave their lives in the battle.
