Easter Play

Members of the Church of England Dramatic Society presented John Masefield's verse play, "Good Friday", on that day at Easter. Offstage is the Cross of Calvary while onstage is enacted the events, with Pontius Pilate as the central figure, which were associated with the crucifixion.

Pilate is presented as a servant of Rome doing what he thought best for the district under his jurisdiction.

A Roman soldier (Ian Perani) bars the way for the blind beggar (Arnold Chalmers) as he beseeches tolerance from Pilate (Stan Wilkes).
