Aero Club Display
Most of Gisborne flocked out to Darton Field aerodrome one fine Sunday afternoon recently to see an air pageant staged by the Aero Club in conjunction with the Intermediate School. A collection materially aided the club and the school baths fund.
One of the highlights of the day was a "demonstration" by. Bruce Thompson of "a pupil's first solo flight". Most of the audience was more than a little relieved when Thompson, seen beside his plane, finally climbed out of the cockpit.
Another highlight was a demonstration of the manoeuvrability of the new Fletcher topdressing plane by John Riddell.
The de Havilland Dragon Rapide was kept busy all afternoon catering for sightseers.
