It is shown shortly after arrival outside the hangar, with the specially constructed elevator in position by which 2 tons of fertiliser can be loaded in a minute. The machine is capable of carrying up to 6 tons of fertiliser. The plane was captained on its trans-Tasman flight by Mr Lionel van Fraag, with Mr Aubrey Oates as first officer.

The Fletcher aerial topdressing aircraft purchased recently by East Coast Air Services Ltd. Powered by a Continental 225 h.p. engine, it cruises at 110 m.p.h. and can carry ¾ ton of fertiliser. With a low stalling speed, it has proved most suitable for the work. There are now four machines of this type in N.Z., and the company has two more on order. They are built in California.
